Questions about the @ home salon answered

WHAT IS BIAB?

BIAB aka Builder In A Bottle is a gelpolish that helps growing your nails.

With a BIAB treatment we create the perfect c-curve on your nails. This technique of shaping your nails strengthens them, helps them grow longer and prevents your nails from breakage.

BIAB AS A SINGLE COLOUR, OVERLAY OR TREATMENT?

We can use BIAB in your manicure in three ways. Ranking from strong, stronger and strongest.

1. As a single colour. Fan of natural colours? We can also use BIAB as a polish. With this treatment we'll add two or 3 coats of BIAB and a topcoat. A BIAB single colour is like the BB cream for your nails. Book 'single colour' if you'd like this treatment.

2. As an overlay. The BIAB overlay is only bookable in combination with a gelcolour/art treatment. When you add the overlay to your mani, we'll replace the standard rubber basecoat with two coats of BIAB. This gives your mani a lot of extra strength. Book the 'add on: overlay' if you'd like this treatment.

3. As a treatment. With a BIAB treatment we'll use the same product, but we will shape and sculpt your nail to perfection. By adding the perfect c-curve to your nailbed your nails will be stronger and also less likely to break. Don't like the natural BIAB colours? Feel free to add a gelcolour or some art to your treatment. You can find these treatments under 'BIAB treatment'.

IS GELPOLISH HARMFUL/DAMAGING FOR YOUR NAILS?

The short answer? No. Gelpolish is not damaging your nails. The long answer? Damaged or thin nails after a gel manicure almost always come from the way the product has been applied to your nails, or the way the product has been removed from your nails. If your nails get filed very thin before applying the product, or during the removal process, you will of course have some damage to your nails. Or if the gelpolish starts to lift a little bit, and the product gets stuck somewhere (or worse, picked off) and gets loosened from the nail bed it can take a layer of nail with it on the parts that were still attached to your nails. So the product itself is not harmful for your nails (BIAB even makes your natural nails stronger), but always get your products applied & taken off by a professional with respect for your natural nails.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT / I'M LATE?

Can't make it? No worries! You can cancel or move your appointment up to 24 hours in advance via the link in your confirmation e-mail. Because I'm a one-woman-show, I reserve time for you when you book in an appointment. If a cancellation happens within 24 hours of an appointment it's a bit difficult for me to fill up that hole. So that's why I'll ask you to meet in the middle and you'll get an invoice of 50% of your treatment. No show? Then you'll receive an invoice for the complete treatment.

But let's try to not make this happen because I love creating beautiful nails!

HOW LONG DOES A GELMANI LAST?

Your manicure stays pretty for 10-14 days, but can last up to three weeks. This means that you can keep the gelpolish on longer by oiling your cuticles twice a day, and whenever you see some lifting - don't pick it, or pull it off. Your nails consist of many tiny layers and if you pull of the polish, chances are high that you also take of a layer of nail. Which can result in thin and fragile nails. Just as a hairdresser expects you to take care of your hair after leaving the salon, we do the same with your nails.

WHY IS A FULL REMOVAL PRICED DIFFERENTLY THAN A REMOVE BEFORE NEW?

When we do a full removal we'll gently remove the polish and you will also get a manicure afterwards where we make sure the product is removed from your nailplate, your cuticles are taken care off and your nails will be filed to your liking.

With a 'remove before new', we only charge you for the first part, so removing the polish. The second part, the manicure and shaping your nails is included in your gelpolish appointment. So in short, the prices are different because the services are different. :)
